1-24-22   THOUGHTS

In our Fellowship-Study last evening, we looked at Philippians chapter four.  Philippians is such a positive book and the selection below may be one of the best in the book.  God did not intend for us to live life upset, angry and in battle with the world we live in.  It is for sure our world will give us reasons to take that approach.  The Christian doesn’t give from the evil he receives.  We give from the LOVE GOD SHOWERS UPON US!  Our lives are not REACTIONS,  but the INTENTIONAL PRESENTATION OF OUR LOVING LORD WHO SAVED US!  Of  LOVE, God’s word says it “does not seek its own,”    We are given tools below to make our lives JOYFULLY productive.  Paul takes us from rejoicing to contentment, and then tells us we can do all things through Christ who  strengthens us.  Let us think on these things!

Php 4:4-13      Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!  5  Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.  9  The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.  10   But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. 11  Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.  12  I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.  13  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
As we think of “HOW TO LIVE”, we must add...
1Cor 13:4-8a
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5  does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6  does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8   Love never fails...
Gal 5:13    For you were called to freedom, brethren; only [do] not [turn] your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

My Prayer:
Teach us Your love O God,  that we may live in service to others for the sake of Christ Jesus. Help us to lift up His name in word and deed.  May we practice the things that bring Your peace O  God.  Please Lord, give us of Your peace that surpasses understanding.  We want to abide in your presence.  Strengthen us Lord Jesus to present your Kingdom with joyful power.
In the name of our Savior who died for us           Amen
